Rural Hospital AHR226*Rural Hospital

casestudy-AHR226

This county owned rural hospital is located in a highly competitive market. The facility serves a population of approximately 22,000.

challenge

One of the major challenges for this hospital resulted from a lack of policy and procedures within their business office. There was little to no communication between the hospital departments or department heads. The hospital’s front end staff was not collecting copays or deductibles, which affected their Point of Service Collections. The admissions staff did a poor job of verifying and entering the correct insurance information resulting in claims not being filed to the correct insurance.

solution

Our initial assessment helped us clearly identify the problems within the hospital’s revenue cycle process. The solution involved a hands-on approach of assisting, monitoring, and training hospital employees. Our team began managing the accounts receivable and collections of hospital’s patient revenues and overseeing the claims filing and follow up. Most importantly, we implemented our comprehensive standard of policies and procedures, assessment materials, auditing tools, and reporting practices.
